So I have these conversations with myself at work sometimes.
Me: Hehehe, that’s hilarious!
Me: No one but someone who’s been staring at sketch maps of old mining features for four hours would think that’s funny.
Me: I don’t care. It’s still funny.
The one for today is from a photo log. Photo logs are hand-written lists of captions done in the field so we know what digital photo is what. They generally say things like “Wetland area. Facing: W” and “SP [Shovel probe] 101. Facing: E” Utilitarian to the extreme, and while useful for me to look up which photos show Feature 19 when I’m mapping it, they’re not usually hilarious.
Today’s had a section like this:
[Handwriting 1] Doe! [Handwriting 2] A deer?
Feature 9
”
”
”
SP 101
SP 102
ANTS.
I didn’t check the doe, but ANTS was totally as it said on the tin. Ants!
