My parents’ shower is extremely obliging, but rather clueless. I’m staying over at the parental house to attend a wedding this evening, and since it’s somewhat hot this afternoon, when getting ready I tried to introduce their shower to the concept of “cool”. It was a not very successful lesson.
First I turned the knob to the middle, and got ice cold. I don’t know where it got the ice cold water, given the ambient temperature, but I supposed the water mains are underground. The shower seemed confused as to why I’d want it so very cold, but who is it to judge? So I nudged the knob hot-wards. The shower got very excited! Hot water! That’s what people should want for showers! It was a good shower, it would give me the hottest of waters! So we went straight from ice to lobstering. I inched it carefully back to cold through the slim margin of actual temperature control that the knob apparently actually had, but by the time I’d gotten it all the way to cool, I was clean.
The shower was so enthusiastic, though. I suppose I can’t blame it for trying.
