So I’ve determined that my refrigerator has fridge apnea. Yesterday I noticed water dripping from the ceiling of the fridge compartment, as if something had melted from around the freezer compartment that shouldn’t. I wiped it all up, necessitating the door being open for some time, and then noticed that despite this, it hadn’t turned on for a cooling cycle. Ruh-roh, I thought. I left the voicemail for the landlord and started planning my meals so I wouldn’t have to open the door much until Monday.
Then it turned on again. Huh, I thought. Was that a fluke? I noticed it still wasn’t cooling very well, so I left the voicemail, and made arrangements for a replacement with the landlord when he called back. This morning, it seemed hunky-dory, and had even managed to freeze the drip-bowl I’d set at the very back, like it used to enjoy doing to my milk when I pushed it too far back on the shelf. I was pondering canceling with the landlord as I went about my normal breakfast fridge-opening.
Then the drip was back. And so was the ominous silence. It stayed that way for about half an hour then–boom. It remembered itself and started the cooling cycle. Fridge apnea!
In the meantime, I’ve put up my Fun with Google tag. For those new to the blog, that’s what I use when I make up a silly phrase to see how many hits I’ll get from people typing that into a search engine. Tune in after a few weeks to see if this one is a winner!
